Gibby (m)

Bird ID: 8309
Species: Parakeet
Sex: Male
Sub-Species: Standard Budgie
Adopted on 2026-08-02
Gibby came to Mickaboo in 2025. He’s a great regular budgie.  He eats pellets and nibbles sometimes on greens. He’s not especially food motivated, but does enjoy getting seed as a treat, also to get him back into the cage. He’s a great flyer, quickly learned what windows are and enjoys flying in laps around the room.  He knows how to find suitable perches. He’s a little wary of humans unless he’s around a tame budgie, and then he’ll fly to you landing on a finger or head, and happily joins the company. Yes- does great with other budgies Yes – treats get him back in the cage Toys – he doesn’t seem too interested, but maybe just because he isn’t fully  relaxed
In nature, parakeets (budgerigars) live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single parakeet to a household if there is already at least one parakeet living there. Otherwise, parakeets must be adopted in groups of two or more.
